I think they really thought they were doing some kind of public service by locking up what was left and then "rebuilding". Problem is, banks are fail-by-design in this game.
Ever notice there is no investment market in Somalia? Yeah, that's why its fail here too. A few gems, sure, but on balance, not worth the time.
I'm just glad they finally realized that its far better to say "we all got hosed, take back what is left". It should have been done on day 1, but meh. None of them will have anyone's trust going forward in any event.
Oh, and ... Are we there yet?
